The landlocked city, the capital of India, New Delhi is world-famous for its historical places, monuments, and tourist sites. The unique part is that each monument has its own history and significance. The boundaries of this vast city are extended in every direction and have lots of must visit tourist attractions. Monuments from Independence

Rajghat, India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhawan and Nehru Memorial Museum & Library are those monuments which are anyhow related to the Independence of the country.

Rajghat: It is a historical ghat of Old Delhi and is a memorial dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. He was cremated in this garden on a black marble platform.

India Gate: This 42 m high structure is like an archway in the middle of the road. India Gate is an “Arc-de-Triompe” which commemorates 70,000 India soldiers who lost their lives in World War I.

Rashtrapati Bhawan: The house to the president of World’s largest democracy, India lives there. This house epitomizes the strength of our country. This vast mansion is multi-dimensional, and its architecture is breathtaking. This building is located at the western end of Rajpath.

Nehru Memorial Museum & Library: This museum and library were founded in 1964, after the death of India’s first Prime Minister. Housed within Teen Murti Bhawan, the Institute preserves the history of Indian Independence Movement.

Old Tourist Sites

Humayun-Tomb

Red Fort: Until 1857, Red Fort was the house of Mughal Dynasty for nearly 200 years. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chandni Chowk: Jahangir’s daughter Jahanaara designed the densely populated market in the 17th century. It is India’s most populated and biggest wholesale market. There is a famous food street in Chandni Chowk where you can get the best cuisines. This place is considered a heaven for food lovers.

Humayun Tomb: The tomb of Mughal Emperor Humayun is an excellent example of Persian culture. It took 14 years to get completed.

Lodhi Garden: Spread over 90 acres of area, this garden contains Mohammad Shah’s Tomb, Sikander Lodhi’s Tomb, Bada Gumbad, Shisha Gumbad and the architectural works of Lodhi dynasty. The first Tomb was of Mohammad Shah who was a Sayyid, dynasty ruler. It was built in 1444 by Alauddin Alam.

Lotus Temple: This Bahai temple is made up in the shape of Lotus flower. It is open to all irrelevant to any qualification or religion. This most visited building has won many architectural awards. The house of worship is a nine-sided circular shape.

Iskcon Temple: This Radha Parthsarthi temple was built in 1998. It is located at the Hare Krishna Hills which is quite close to Nehru Palace. This temple endorses Vedic learning in a scientific way.

Best Time to visit New Delhi

As per the climatic condition of the city, summers are not good to visit the place. The months of August to March are the best time to enjoy this great city.
